55th National Awards Declared

Prakash Raj wins the Best Actor Award in 55th National Awards

The 55th National Awards for the year 2007 was declared today. It is India’s most prominent and prestigious film awards ceremony.

One of the top actors of today’s South Indian Cinema, Prakash Raj, won the prestigious National Award in Best Actor category for the Tamil film Kanjivaram directed by Priyadarshan. This is his 3rd national award, the previous ones being the best supporting actor in 1998 for the Tamil film ‘Iruvar’ and a special jury award in the year 2003. It is interesting to note here that the film Kanjivaramwhich has earned him the national recognition also has been chosen for the Best Film category for the year 2007.
